Pensacola mayor says former police chief did not meet expectations, introduces acting chief

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Mayor of Pensacola introduced the police department’s new acting police chief, Kristin Brown, Tuesday, and addressed former Police Chief Eric Randall’s resignation for the first time.

“I cannot serve the 55,000 effectively if the people who proudly wear a badge, or the city seal, or the city logo aren’t confident in the direction of leadership and can show up consistently unengaged as they serve the public,” Mayor D.C. Reeves said.

Randall, a Pensacola native, was selected as chief in 2021 by former Mayor Grover Robinson. Randall previously served as an assistant chief in Newport News, Va.
