This Friday, July 18, the Escambia County Commission celebrates the nearly 200 young people who dedicated their summer to gaining valuable work experience through Escambia County’s Summer Youth Employment Program.
The recognition ceremony, set for 11 a.m. at the Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W. De Soto St., will honor the participants for their commitment to professional development and community service.
- More Good News: On July 10, the Escambia County Commission approved an exemption request and interlocal agreement that will direct Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds to the Escambia Children’s Trust for the county’s youth programs. Those funds will expand the program next year.
A Program That Makes a Difference
District 3 Commissioner Lumon May, along with Neighborhood and Human Services staff, will lead the ceremony recognizing the youth who participated in this comprehensive employment initiative. The program represents more than just summer jobs – it’s an investment in the future workforce of Escambia County.
The 2025 Summer Youth Employment Program provided participants with hands-on experience across a range of county departments and community partners. From Animal Welfare to Public Works, and from the Board of County Commissioners to Parks and Recreation, these young professionals gained exposure to diverse career paths while contributing to their community.
