2 Northwest Florida women seriously injured in crash

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Two Northwest Florida women were injured when their cars collided Friday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, the crash happened at about 10 a.m. on U.S. 90 near State Road 8.

A 19-year-old Pensacola woman reportedly was driving an SUV east on West Nine Mile Road, U.S. 90, during heavy rain. As she was passing another car, she lost control of the SUV, entered the westbound lanes, and began to overturn, the release said.

At the same time, a sedan driven by a 20-year-old Niceville woman was heading west on West Nine Mile Road, U.S. 90, and was unable to avoid colliding with the SUV, hitting it on the driver’s side, according to the release.
