PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — A man who was in the country illegally has been sentenced to federal prison on a gun charge.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Florida, Juan Dias-Zacarias, from South America, was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.
“Law-abiding citizens are guaranteed the right to keep and bear firearms by our U.S. Constitution, but illegal aliens who unlawfully enter our country have no such right,” U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin, said. “In this case, the defendant not only unlawfully possessed a firearm, he used it to violently threaten another person.”
According to court documents, Dias-Zacarias was asked multiple times by a security guard to evacuate a Pensacola hotel. In response, Dias-Zacarias pulled a revolver from his waistband and pointed it at the security guard, “causing him to fear for his life.”
The guard was able to overpower Dias-Zacarias, grab the firearm, and call police, the release said. Officers learned that Dias-Zacarias had a run-in with immigration authorities in 1998 and returned to Mexico…
