ELBERTA, Ala. (WKRG) — The usually pristine waters of Wolf Bay look more like chocolate milk as stormwater runoff pushes mud into Moccasin Bayou.

“About two weeks ago it started, and since then it’s been what you see now every day,” Paul Salzmann, who has lived along the Bayou all of his life, said. He blames the development of almost 70 acres next door for the mess.
“We don’t know who to complain to. I’ve complained to the Town of Elberta, and they just blew me off. We complained to Elberta before this happened,” Salzmann said.
The Cross Creek development falls under Alabama Department of Environmental Management permitting regulations, according to Elberta Town Administrator Karen Woerner.
“ADEM has been made aware of the potential discharge,” Woerner said.
“It really looks bad, ” State Senator Chris Elliott said. “Our waterways are the most important thing in Baldwin County, and whether it’s the Corps of Engineers dumping mud in the bay or runoff from sites like this, we’ve got to get it under control. This is simply not acceptable.”…
