Escambia Bay shellfish area temporarily closes

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A shellfishing area in Escambia County has temporarily closed.

UPDATE: 4 dead in Baldwin County murder-suicide

According to a news release from the Florida Division of Aquaculture, the Escambia Bay Shellfish Harvest Area closed at sunset on Aug. 14. Scallops, shrimp, or crabs are not included.

This closure is based on conditional changes required under the management plan.

The shellfish area will reopen when water samples “conform to the management plan.”
