Santa Rosa County’s Coastal Connections Academy closing after receiving ‘F’ grade

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. — Coastal Connections Academy — a statewide virtual K-5 charter school — was previously under the Santa Rosa County District Schools (SRCDS) umbrella.

It was the only school in Santa Rosa County to receive an “F” grade by the Florida Department of Education for the 2024-25 school year. On Wednesday, Santa Rosa County schools told WEAR News it received a formal written notification that the contract between the district and the school will be terminated.

The school will close, effective Sept. 1. This news comes on the heels of a Santa Rosa County school board meeting two weeks ago. In that meeting, school board officials grilled Coastal Connections Academy, saying the school’s “F” grade is bringing down the district’s overall score…
