ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — On Oct. 6, Escambia County Waste Services will start to accept household hazardous waste at the Perdido Landfill, but it will be at a new location.

According to an Escambia County news release, those dropping off waste at the landfill will be directed to the new location by attendants when they enter.
“Customers bringing in trailers with HHW and other items will be considered a split load and will drop off at the HHW location first, then proceed to the Customer Convenience Center for disposal of debris, trash, appliances, and electronics,” read the release.
“HHW is for the residential waste only; commercial waste is not accepted at the drop-off point.”
Officials said another change to the drop-offs is that residents can now dispose of needles and sharp objects. The items must be secured in a “hard plastic puncture-resistant or FDA-approved container.”
