A Minute with Drexel: Hush

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — News 5’s Drexel Gilbert says she hopes that her “minutes” enlighten, entertain, and perhaps even teach us all something. She decided to turn today’s minute into a vocabulary lesson with her focus on the word “hush.” Here’s this week’s Minute with Drexel:

Hey, y’all. I’m going to try to keep this week’s minute short and sweet because… I think it’s possible we are all just talking too much. You know, I was a pretty good student when I was a kid. I didn’t get into a lot of trouble, but when I did, it was usually for running my mouth. Go figure. My teachers’ (all of them) favorite word to me seemed to be “hush.”

We’ve all been exposed to a lot of “words” recently. Words are good, when they are spoken to do things like edify, educate, reconcile, heal, and soothe. But lately, there seem to be a lot of words being thrown around that tear down, hurt, agitate, wound, and just make angry noise. We can’t control other people’s words, but we can control our own.
