Inmate accused of taking correctional officer’s gun, firing it at Milton hospital

MILTON, Fla. (WKRG) — An inmate faces more prison time after allegedly taking a correctional officer’s gun and firing a shot at a Milton hospital, News 5 has learned.

According to the Milton Police Department, MPD officers were called to Santa Rosa Medical Center on Saturday for a report of a reckless discharge of a firearm on the hospital’s campus.

Officers said they arrived and found that a Blackwater River Correctional Facility inmate had fired one shot.

Police said no one was injured and the weapon was seized before the inmate was arrested.
