Assault at business in Mobile leads to two arrests: MPD
According to a release from the City of Foley, the first competition of its kind for the area took place at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve. Foley, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach Public Works crews competed to show off their skills.
Activities included balancing a bowling ball on heavy equipment, putting giant inflated balls, and pushing a tire around traffic cones with a bulldozer.
Orange Beach won first place, while Foley took second, and Gulf Shores, third.
Foley Public Works Director Darrell Russell explained that crews from different cities may have to work together in times of emergencies. The event gave the crews an opportunity to meet each other.
“This is a chance to meet between the public works directors and the superintendents from the cities, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Foley,” Foley street maintenance superintendent Mike Chavers said. “Then folks from Fairhope and Daphne were here as well. I talked with them. All of us, all the cities of Baldwin, are trying to make the whole county better. So they’re all into this. They’re looking forward to next year and hoping this is bigger and better.”
