ELBERTA, Ala. (WPMI) — Another sediment plume was documented in Moccasin Bayou in Baldwin County after at least six inches of rain fell in Elberta on Sunday. Some areas saw closer to nine inches. Paul Salzmann says ever since developers clear cut nearby property on County Road 20 to build a subdivision, dirt has been running into his beloved bayou. He estimates they’ve lost a foot of depth due to the volume of sediment that’s flowed in from stormwater runoff.
“I want them stop it because they are actually ruining our life downhill because we live off this bayou,” said Salzmann.
He says dolphins no longer swim here, fish are dying and algae that didn’t grow before is now visible…
