Temporary traffic shift set in Escambia County

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Construction in Escambia County will shift traffic temporarily.

According to a release from the Florida Department of Transportation, the east and westbound lanes of S.R. 292 will shift to allow for the construction of a median traffic separator, beginning Sunday, Oct. 12. The pattern is expected to remain until late 2025.

In the area of construction, the speed limit will be set at 35 mph. Lane closures may also occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

This construction work is one project of many in a $6.2 million resurfacing endeavor from Gulf Beach Highway to Manchester Street on S.R. 292. Intersection and shoulder improvements, as well as new signage and pavement markings, are also included.
