Argonauts Overpower Lady Buccaneers Despite Strong Effort from CBU Midfield

PENSACOLA, Fl. – Christian Brothers University women’s soccer found the back of the net in the second half but ultimately fell 6–1 to No. 3 West Florida on Sunday afternoon at the UWF Soccer Complex.

The Lady Buccaneers weathered early pressure from the undefeated Argonauts, with goalkeeper Maria Carrico making five first-half saves to keep CBU in striking distance. West Florida took a 3–0 lead into halftime behind goals from Rece Grant, Marianna Camacho Montufar, and Alexis Castle.

In the second half, Mackenzie Allen put CBU on the scoreboard in the 64th minute, finishing a setup from Lia Haggstrom off a corner kick to make it 6–1. The goal was Allen’s second of the season and highlighted an improved attacking rhythm for the Lady Bucs, who generated six second-half shots and five corner kicks…
