Ranchettes Area Residents Benefit from $4 Million Drainage Upgrades to Prevent Flooding

Santa Rosa County has finished a $4 million drainage improvement project in the Ranchettes subdivision. The project is designed to reduce flooding and improve stormwater management. Funding came mainly from FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Additional support was provided by the Florida Division of Emergency Management, local sales tax, and general revenues. The project began after Hurricane Sally in 2020 and earlier flooding events caused significant damage.

Commissioner Colten Wright of District 5 said the project is important for residents. He noted it will help during heavy rainfall events like those in April 2014.
