Auburn begins SEC Tournament versus LSU

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Auburn soccer is set to make its 30th SEC Tournament appearance when it faces LSU in the opening round of the conference knockouts this Sunday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. CT at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Florida.

“LSU are the red-hot team right now, particularly from an attacking standpoint,” Auburn head coach James Armstrong said. “They’ve hit some momentum since playing us. Them beating us here gives us a little bit of fuel to want to repay the favor down at the beach. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to have a rematch and hopefully earn a result against a high RPI opponent.”

The return of postseason marks the return of overtime. If teams are squared through the regulation 90 minutes, two 10-minute overtime periods ensue. The golden goal rule will be in effect, meaning when one team scores in overtime, the match is over. If teams remain deadlocked following overtime, the match will be recorded as a draw, and a penalty kick shootout will determine the advancing team…
