New Orange Beach Recycling Center to Expand Options for Local Residents in 2026

The Solid Waste Disposal Authority (SWDA) of Baldwin County has received $1,500,224 in Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funding to build the Orange Beach Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials Facility (CHaRM). The funding will help expand recycling options and support sustainability programs in Baldwin County, Alabama. The facility is part of the county’s waste reduction and environmental management plans.

The CHaRM facility will be located at 22510 Russian Road, near the Beach Express in Orange Beach. It is expected to open in early 2026. The 1.25-acre site will operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. No appointment will be required. Residents and visitors can drop off materials such as aluminum cans, glass, cardboard, plastics (types 1–7), mixed paper, small household batteries, and light bulbs at no charge.

Some items, including residential paint, household hazardous waste, car batteries, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, and electronics, will have a handling fee. The facility will not accept tires, mattresses, construction debris, furniture, medical or biohazardous waste, or large appliances.
