Teen hit by car while standing over dead dog on Escambia County highway

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A teenager who was standing over a dead dog in the road was hit by a car, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The incident happened Saturday just before 8 p.m. on U.S. Highway 29. A 71-year-old woman from Pensacola hit an 18-year-old man who was standing in the southbound outside lane of the highway, a little more than a quarter-mile north of Booth Lake Road.

According to the FHP, the man was standing over a dead dog in the roadway and the driver could not see him or the dog, which were in the woman’s direct path, in time to avoid hitting them.
