Pensacola felon sentenced for gun possession

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola man who had previously been convicted of a felony has been sentenced on a gun charge.

Trespassing charge corrected in Big Creek Lake case

According to a Department of Justice news release, 27-year-old Donavon Idris Ellis was sentenced to 40 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon.

A search warrant was executed at Ellis’ home in March 2024, when law enforcement seized two loaded guns, a bulk box of ammunition, and multiple magazines, according to the release.

Ellis reportedly admitted to the officers that the two guns were his.
