A DOJ news release said 32-year-old John Cody Hawthorne previously pleaded guilty to possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a short-barreled rifle and possession with intent to distribute.
He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on those charges.
The release said law enforcement executed a search warrant at Hawthorne’s home, which is where they found eight guns, more than 400 rounds of ammunition, ballistic body armor, methamphetamine, marijuana and other items that were “indicative of drug distribution.”
