Fines loom after company trims historic Pensacola oak tree without city approval

PENSACOLA, Fla. — A protected oak tree was accidentally trimmed at Belvedere Park in Pensacola.

Mayor DC Reeves says the city has a contract with Executive Landscaping, Inc., which made the unauthorized cuts around Thanksgiving. The branches that used to touch the ground were cut several feet.

“It was absolutely not approved by the city,” he said Tuesday. “… We are working on how that will be rectified, be it through fines or otherwise.”…
