McKinley Middle School teacher placed on leave after Florida arrest involving minor

PENSACOLA, Fl. (WAFB) – A McKinley Middle School teacher has been placed on leave after being arrested in Florida on a felony charge involving a minor, according to court and school system records.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System initially confirmed that it was notified that an employee at McKinley Middle School had been booked in another state on a charge involving a minor. The district said the employee was placed on leave while the matter was investigated.

According to the arrest records from the Escambia Sheriff’s Office, Trey Christopher King, 29, of Prairieville, was arrested on Monday, Dec. 15, on a felony count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16 by an offender over 18.

Investigators say the alleged incidents occurred between May 27 and May 29, 2025, while the alleged victim was visiting Pensacola Beach, Florida. The arrest report states the allegations do not involve a school campus and did not occur in Louisiana…
