Super Saturday sees record 159m shoppers as Pensacola stores gear up for Christmas rush

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The National Retail Federation estimates about 159 million consumers purchased last-minute Christmas gifts on Saturday.

The day is coined ‘Super Saturday,’ as it’s the final Saturday before Christmas. It’s considered a significant shopping day for consumers and retailers.

“We’re just out walking the streets and doing a little shopping for Christmas,” shopper Larry Bethune said. “It looks busy to me. A lot of people are out doing Christmas shopping and having a good time, going to restaurants.”…
