Polar Bear Dips have become a popular waterfront event across the globe. No one knows who started the event but it could be linked to the person who first ate oysters. Along the local coastline we know that Pat McClellan of the Flora-Bama started the tradition that now draws thousands to the State Line. Those dippers that brave the water “On The Line” receive a free plate of black-eyed peas, collard greens and a draft bear for their participation.
