11 people indicted for re-entering country illegally in Florida

FLORIDA — A federal grand jury has indicted 11 people for illegally reentering the United States after previous deportations, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida announced Thursday.

According to the attorney’s office, the indictments are part of Operation Take Back America, a federal immigration enforcement initiative. Authorities said three of the individuals were located in Okaloosa County, while others were found in Santa Rosa and Escambia counties during November and December 2025.

Among those indicted are Carlos Sanchez-Mendez, 35, of Mexico, who was located in Okaloosa County in November 2025 after previously being deported three times in 2010, 2014 and 2016. His plea and sentencing are scheduled for Jan. 14, 2026, before U.S. District Judge T. Kent Wetherell II. Also located in Okaloosa County were Jose Alberto Orozco-Sanchez, 45, and Nicolas Jorge-Garcia, 41, both of Mexico, each of whom is scheduled for trial Feb. 2, 2026, before U.S. District Judge M.
