Two people injured following vehicle crash in Florida

FLORIDA — Two people were seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Escambia County, according to a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP news release stated that a pickup truck driven by a 50-year-old man from Pensacola ran off the roadway while attempting to pass another vehicle on East Quintette Road. After leaving the road, the truck traveled over a guardrail and struck two trees.

The driver and a 51-year-old female passenger, also from Pensacola, were trapped inside the vehicle following the crash. Both were extricated from the truck by Escambia County Fire and Rescue
