One of the two Pensacola men charged with killing an elderly woman in a drive-by shooting before fleeing law enforcement and jumping over the Escambia River Bridge has been sentenced to mandatory life in prison without parole, followed by another consecutive 30 years in prison.
Terrance Lovelle Gross, Jr. was found guilty on Dec. 18, 2025, of first-degree premeditated murder, shooting into a dwelling and fleeing with lights and sirens activated after killing 70-year-old Myra Hayes on June 24, 2024. He was sentenced by Escambia Circuit Court Judge Amy Broderson on Jan. 21.
During the drive-by shooting, 40 rounds of ammunition was shot into Hayes’ Erress Boulevard home. Hayes was sitting in her front yard with her family when she was shot in the neck and later died from her injuries. The shooting covered an entire block of a residential area and a family member witnessed a small white car and noticed a black gun extended from the window.
