Hundreds of people gathered in chilly temperatures as the sun was setting in Pensacola in one of the first anti-ICE rallies across Florida planned for this week.
Monday’s event, and several others scheduled across the state including ones in Sarasota and Deland on Tuesday, are in response to the weekend’s fatal shooting of an ICU nurse in Minnesota by Border Patrol agents.
Alex Pretti, a U.S. citizen and registered nurse who treated veterans, was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent after confronting immigration authorities on Jan. 24. Federal officials said Pretti was carrying a gun he intended to use to “kill law enforcement.”…
