Pensacola High and Pine Forest High students who walked out of classes on Jan. 30 to protest the nationwide actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement now face disciplinary actions including suspension.
Some Escambia County Public Schools students left classes about 2 p.m. Friday, joining middle and high school students across the U.S. to participate in the “National Shutdown.” The organized event asked Americans to skip school, stay home from work and boycott shopping in protest of ICE’s operations across the country. Modeled after the one-day shutdown in Minnesota on Jan. 23, the event was organized by a coalition of student groups.
