Pensacola man sentenced to federal prison for firearm possession

PENSACOLA, Florida — Jerney Jabara Purifoy, a 33-year-old from Pensacola, Florida, has been sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The sentencing was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. “This serial felon has spent years terrorizing our communities with his criminal conduct,” Heekin stated. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat violent crime and protect communities, according to the press release.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Purifoy’s residence due to animal cruelty allegations, where they found a loaded handgun in his bedroom and a loaded .22-caliber AR15-style rifle in the residence. The animal cruelty case is pending in state court…
