The attorney for the Milton mother charged with murdering her 6-year-old daughter plans to get his client mentally evaluated and tested for competency.
April Oliva, 40, who was arrested shortly after midnight Feb. 25 for allegedly stabbing her daughter Valerie more than 20 times inside their home, appeared at her pretrial detention hearing March 2. During the hearing, the state sought to detain Oliva until her case is resolved.
