Start and dismissal times will not change at any Santa Rosa County District Schools next fall.
In a unanimous decision, the Santa Rosa School Board voted to leave school bell times as they are at Central School, Chumuckla Elementary, Gulf Breeze Middle, Jay High, Sims Middle, Wallace Lake K8 and Woodlawn Beach Middle schools.
The school board met Thursday night at Woodlawn Beach Middle School and held a public hearing to gather community input about the district’s compliance with a new Florida statute that requires middle schools to start no earlier than 8 a.m. and high schools not before 8:30 a.m. However, under the statute, the mandated later start times will not be enforced…
