Northwest Florida Panhandle could see overnight severe thunderstorms

A line of severe thunderstorms will hit Pensacola late overnight on Wednesday and continue through portions of the Florida Panhandle early Thursday morning. Heavy rain, damaging winds and potentially strong tornadoes.

“This setup is on track to produce the most widespread and impactful severe weather outbreak so far this year,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Courtney Travis said. “The overlap of strong winds aloft, abundant moisture from the Gulf and sharp temperature contrasts creates an environment supportive of tornadoes, damaging wind gusts and large hail.”

The National Weather Service office in Mobile, Alabama, has forecast that Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties have a level 2 (slight) risk of severe storms…
