A downtown Pensacola staple for late-night shakes and snacks, Whataburger at 417 E. Gregory St. is temporarily closed until a massive store renovation is complete this summer.
Whataburger was issued a permit by the city in January for commercial site work necessary to complete the remodel, giving developers the green light to proceed with site redevelopment, including adding another drive-through lane. The restaurant has been stripped down to make way for the new, modernized build.
“We can confirm that the Whataburger restaurant on E. Gregory is currently undergoing a remodel and is expected to reopen in summer 2026,” Whataburger wrote in a statement for the News Journal. “The updated design will deliver a more modern guest experience, an optimized kitchen environment for our Family Members (employees), and an exterior that reflects our latest brand standards—supporting both operational excellence and customer satisfaction for years to come.”…
