Pensacola man accused of punching Escambia County deputy in face

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Pensacola man after he allegedly punched one of them in the face.

According to an ECSO arrest report, 30-year-old Marcus Antonio Austin was arrested on March 29 and charged with felony battery on specified personnel.

The report said Austin was standing on a bed, yelling and cursing at deputies when they tried to get him on the ground.

While trying to get him on the ground, Austin punched one of the deputies in the left side of his face, which damaged the deputy’s prescription glasses, according to the report.

Deputies said Austin told them he was “not afraid to catch a battery on law enforcement charge” before he hit the deputy.
