Pensacola airport fills in gaps left by Spirit Airline’s abrupt closure

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Pensacola International Airport is already filling in the gaps left by Spirit Airline’s abrupt closure on Saturday.

The low cost airline operated hundreds of flights daily and employed 17,000 people across the country.

“Spirit took about at least 7% of all the seats flying in and out of Pensacola,” said Matt Coughlin, Pensacola International Airport’s director. “It’s not a huge number but we’ll miss them.”…
