Search suspended for missing swimmer at the Jersey Shore

The search for a missing swimmer in the ocean off Seaside Park did not resume Sunday, authorities said.

The 23-year-old from Palmyra went missing at about 1:57 p.m. Friday, 100 yards off the beach near Decatur Avenue and O Street, according to a spokesman from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Rescuers from the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Barnegat Light used a 47-foot motorized lifeboat and the Coast Guard Station in Atlantic City sent a helicopter to help find the swimmer.
