Record‑setting World Cup crowds pack Philadelphia

The FIFA World Cup reached a historic milestone Thursday as Philadelphia’s match between Curacao and Ivory Coast pushed the tournament to its highest attendance ever.

City officials said more than 273,000 fans have attended the first four matches held in Philadelphia, contributing to the World Cup’s record total of 3.6 million spectators.
