Downed wires led to a disabled train with passengers on board and impacted service on SEPTA’s Media/Wawa regional rail line Monday evening.
The train was stopped near 49th Street. A passenger told NBC10 the wires “electrified” the train. SEPTA said shuttle buses were sent to the location to assist the riders who remain on board.
“All of a sudden it sounded like we were in a plane crash,” said passenger Bridget Owen. “There were sparks flying all over. It sounded like we hit something, or something hit us. People were panicking, and then we came to an abrupt stop.”
Media: Service is suspended until further notice due to wire issues. Find alternate routes here or use the Trip Planner on https://t.co/uYnDwpYqCN or in the SEPTA App. https://t.co/ZRdaJH9BXK
