According to reporting from multiple news outlets, the U.S. Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation into District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office. The probe stems from a mishandled post-conviction case that has dogged the office for months, rooted in two prosecutors who became critical of how Krasner dealt with the case, who claim his loyalty was not to the truth, but to “protecting the office.”
Krasner has denied any wrongdoing and accused the federal judge who recommended the investigation of acting unfairly, calling him a “ringmaster” of a “circus.” He has also called the DOJ under President Donald Trump “an attack arm for people the President perceives as enemies.”
