A SHOPLIFTER has been caught hiding a gun at Walmart, causing a police manhunt.
Philadelphia police caught an unidentified man on surveillance camera, placing a loaded gun on the store shelf before he left the store.
On Monday, the man was spotted in the shoe department trying on boots, before heading to a different area of the store.
Police say he was stealing from the Walmart around 6:30 am. He was identified wearing black pants and a dark jacket.
After leaving the shoe section, he was seen walking down a different aisle, where he placed a firearm behind two boxes on the shelf.
As of now, police have not confirmed the reason for the gun being hidden inside the store.
Theft has been a huge problem for their retailer in recent years.
President and CEO Doug McMillon has discribed how shoplifting has been at a “historic high” for the company, according to CNBC Squawk Box.
In 2023, Walmart closed 24 of its locations with theft being cited as one of the causes, according to Daily Mail.
