Manhunt for Escaped Murder Suspect Shane Pryor Continues into Fourth Day in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — The search for Shane Pryor, a 17-year-old fugitive and suspected murderer, continues into its fourth day, with Philadelphia police intensifying their efforts in the University City area. Pryor is considered dangerous and has been the subject of an ongoing manhunt since his escape.

Pryor was last seen near University Avenue and Civic Center Boulevard, with search efforts focusing around 34th and Spruce streets. Standing at 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, he was last spotted wearing blue sweatpants and a sweatshirt, without shoes.

The escape occurred from the CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) emergency room parking lot. Pryor had been in custody on murder and firearm charges related to an October 2020 incident, in which he allegedly murdered a 54-year-old woman when he was just 14 years old.

There was a confirmed sighting of Pryor on January 26 in a store in the Olney neighborhood, near Godfrey & Mascher Streets, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Despite this lead, he remains at large.
