Manhunt Ends as Escaped Juvenile Shane Pryor Captured in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—After an intense manhunt, Shane Pryor, a 17-year-old escapee considered dangerous by police, was apprehended in Philadelphia. Pryor had previously escaped custody in the University City area, leading to a widespread search.

The breakthrough in the manhunt came as U.S. Marshals, tracking a phone linked to Pryor or an associate, converged on an apartment. There, they found the phone broken outside. Maintaining vigilance in the area, a Marshal observed Pryor boarding a SEPTA bus as the evening set in.

Responding swiftly, the Marshals executed a dramatic intervention, pulling over the bus with lights and sirens. A startling revelation emerged from a source close to the investigation, indicating that someone associated with the detention center had provided Pryor with a handcuff key. Confirming this, Marshals found Pryor in possession of the key upon his capture.

Utilizing the key, Marshals re-secured Pryor’s handcuffs, effectively ending his brief period of freedom. Pryor was last seen near University Avenue and Civic Center Boulevard and had been the subject of an intensive search around 34th and Spruce streets.
