Public Service Announcement: Mail Scam Targets Claymont Delaware Residents

CLAYMONT, DE – Attention all Claymont residents! A recent mail scam has been circulating in our community, targeting unsuspecting individuals with deceptive tactics. Residents need to be vigilant and cautious to avoid falling victim to this fraudulent scheme.

The scam involves a car warranty company sending out mailers designed to resemble official warning notices from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). These mailers are carefully crafted to create a sense of urgency and alarm, leading recipients to believe that their vehicle’s warranty is about to expire or that there is an urgent issue with their vehicle registration.

Upon closer inspection, however, it becomes evident that these notices are not from the DMV but are instead advertisements from a car warranty company. (See Photo Below) The goal of these mailers is to deceive recipients into believing that they need to take immediate action to renew or extend their vehicle’s warranty coverage, often at inflated prices.
