Panthers welcome Flyers to Sunrise for matchup of teams heading in different directions

It’s been 10 days since the Florida Panthers last played a hockey game.

The Panthers received some much needed time off to rest, recover and relax during the NHL All-Star break.

Now they’ll be looking to resume their recent winning ways when they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night at Amerant Bank Arena.

Florida finished the pre-All-Star schedule with an impressive 12-2-2 run and will be looking to resume their strong, physical play against one of the surprise teams of the Eastern Conference this season.

Philadelphia current sits in third place in the Metropolitan Division with a 25-19-6 record, but things took a downward turn just before the break.

The Flyers are now looking to break out of five game losing skid in which they’ve been outscored by a wide margin of 27-12. That’s an average of 5.4 goals per game Philly is surrendering over the skid, which is not ideal.

One positive for the Flyers is they are expected to welcome back forward and former Panthers first-round pick Owen Tippett to the lineup.
