It’s not a so “Super” Bowl Sunday for Philadelphia Eagles fans again this year, who now have more than one reason not to enjoy the day.
Sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport hours before SBLVIII kickoff that Eagles star linebacker Haason Reddick has “received permission to seek a trade.”
Reddick, 29, signed a three-year, $45 million contract extension with the Eagles in 2022 which means he enters the final year of his deal in 2024 and will cost the team $21.8 against the cap, per Over The Cap .
His interest in finding a new home suggests he wants more money than the $16 million that he is due next season, though not fully guaranteed, and fresh scenery following the Eagles’ historic late-season collapse this past year.
On the flip side, the Eagles allowing Reddick to look elsewhere means they don’t particularly want to pay a soon-to-be 30-year-old a new hefty deal, however, he should have no problem finding another team to play for that’s willing to accommodate his asking price.
