1 dead, 3 injured in shooting at Southwest Philly corner store

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is dead and three are injured after a shooting inside a Southwest Philadelphia corner store Friday night.

Police responded to a car crash that turned into a shooting at 58th Street and Greenway Avenue around 10 p.m. While there, officers received calls about a separate shooting less than a mile away at South 66th Street and Woodland Avenue.

That’s where police say a 58-year-old man was found shot inside a corner store. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and died from his injuries about a half hour later.

Three other men were hurt: A 28-year-old who was shot multiple times in both legs; a 25-year-old who was shot in the neck; and a 42-year-old who was shot in the back.

The 28-year-old and 42-year-old are expected to be OK. The 25-year-old is critical.

No arrests have been made and no weapons were recovered but police say they found around a dozen spent shells at the scene.

The car crash and shooting that police initially responded to is believed to be unrelated to the corner store shooting. One person was arrested.
