What Eagles Fans Should Be Saying About Saquon vs. Dickerson

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has been one of the best offensive players in the league and a clear contender for the league’s coveted MVP trophy.

Not everyone is pleased to see Barkley flirting with NFL history, though.

Despite holding the record for the most rushing yards in a single season for over 40 years, Hall-of-Fame running back Eric Dickerson has made it clear that he doesn’t want his record to fall at the hands of Barkley.

“I don’t think he’ll break it,” Dickerson told the Los Angeles Times . “But if he breaks it, he breaks it. Do I want him to break it? Absolutely not. I don’t pull no punches on that.”

Barkley is 268 yards away from breaking the record. He’ll most likely need an additional game to do so – something Dickerson pointed out as part of the discussion as well.

While Dickerson may be looking for any excuse to limit the impact of Barkley getting close to his overall record, the discussion about the rushing record as a whole is missing one key reality.
