PHILADELPHIA, PA — Mason Williams-Surzano, 20, of Philadelphia, has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for his role in two violent carjackings committed within hours of each other in December 2023. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Karen S. Marston on January 8, 2025.
Williams-Surzano pleaded guilty in September to charges stemming from the carjackings, which included aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence. The incidents occurred on December 13 and 14, 2023, involving two victims.
The first carjacking took place on December 13 at approximately 6:30 p.m., when Williams-Surzano and three accomplices confronted a man at gunpoint near 1700 Brill Street, forcing him to surrender his 2016 Volkswagen Passat.
