A Pennsylvania man awaiting trial on an Oconee murder charge was ordered today to submit to DNA tests in South Carolina. General Sessions Judge Vernon Dunbar approved the prosecution’s request that defendant David Delgado Jr. give new DNA, even though he did so when arrested two years ago in Virginia. Defense lawyer Keith Denny objected, but prosecutor Chris Beeco said there are differences in the DNA test standards followed by both states. Judge Dunbar indicated that once the new samples are taken, the state police lab will be asked to expedite their analysis so that the case against Delgado can be scheduled this year.
